UltrixCarbonite Software Upgrade Guide

Current release: 7.1.13

Preliminary Steps:

1. Download the .ultx_carb upgrade file
2. Save a switcher set onto USB (Help Page: To Store a Set)

Upgrade through DashBoard:

1. Drag the .ultx_carb upgrade file into the upgrade page in DashBoard (Configuration>System>Upgrade)
2. Confirm to begin the upgrade

NOTE: Please do not interact with the switcher for the duration of the upgrade

Upgrade through USB (No DashBoard):

NOTE: Before you start please ensure your USB is formatted as FAT32. ExFAT will not work.

1. Put the .ultx_carb file onto the root of the USB, it should be the only thing on there
2. Plug the USB into the port on the switcher card
3. On the panel navigate to Menu->Reset->Next->Next->Next->Run upgrade from USB
4. Scroll to find the upgrade file
5. Run the upgrade

NOTE: Please do not interact with the switcher for the duration of the upgrade

If this process should fail, follow the recovery upgrade instructions below:

NOTE: Before you start please ensure your USB is formatted as FAT32. ExFAT will not work.

1. Move the .ultx_carb file onto the root of the USB, it should be the only thing on there
2. Plug the USB into the port on the switcher card
3. Ensure that DIP switch 4 is ON (Down). DIP switches are located on the Carbonite blade next to the USB port.
4. Power Cycle the Carbonite
   1. Option 1 - Power down the Ultrix frame and Carbonite blade together, then power back on after 10 seconds.
   2. Option 2 - Turn on DIP switch 3, and press the recessed micro switch in between the DIP switches and the USB port.
5. Once the upgrade is complete and the switcher is back up, make sure to turn off DIP switch 4 or it will try to upgrade again on next reboot.

NOTE: Shortly after the Carbonite boots up the UPGD light on the SDPE blade will come on, this indicates it is upgrading
