Problem
1RU-M8-based system shows the error "No bootable devices found" when attempting to power up and boot the system.
Explanation
The system will typically see all drives installed in the the system, but the RAID is in a state where it is unable to be booted off of.
Solution
When prompted with the “No bootable devices found”, check to ensure that the RAID has not been turned off.
- F2 to enter setup utility
- Select System Configuration
- Select SATA Operation
- Ensure “RAID on” is selected under SATA Operation and not AHCI
- Save/Exit
- Reboot.
How to Recover Volume
- Press F12 when system starts to boot
- When boot options screen appears, select Device Configuration
In the Intel Rapid Storage Technology screen you’ll see your RAID volumes and their statuses. - Select the failed drive and press enter
- Select Recover Volume and press enter
- Recover Volume? Select Yes
It will now put the volume into a degraded state. - Save/Exit. If the F12 menu comes up again, select Windows Boot Manager (UEFI). You may have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE to force a reboot otherwise.
- It should boot to Windows - take note if any Windows Updates happen
How to Mark as Normal

- From the Start Menu, search and run XPression Log Collector and hit "Collect Logs". Take the created .zip and move it to a different system for safe keeping as it contains the preferences/configurations for the installed XPression software
- Click start and open the Intel Rapid Storage Technology program
- You should see the Degraded drive, Select “Mark as Normal”
- The rebuilding process should start.
- After the rebuild is complete, search for and run Command Prompt as Administrator
- Run sfc /scannow. Let it run to completion
- Run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. Let it run to completion
