Ross Video production switchers setup with CUEBI
The Cuebi Lights get the tally signal from the Ross switchers through the TSL protocol. In order to send the signal to all devices through a single interface, a multicast network address must be used. Below instruction show how to configure the switcher to send out the TSL protocol via a multicast address.
Acuity / Ultrix Acuity: TSL 5 Switcher Configuration:
- Make sure the default gateway is configured correctly for your network.
- This is in the HOME > Setup > Network Setup menu.
- The switcher must be set up for the TSL UMD protocol.
- Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Com Setup.
- Press Type and use the Com Port knob to select the Pan Net port that you want to set up for the device.
- Use the Device knob to select Serial Tally.
- Press Select Device and use the Device knob to select TSLOut.
- Press Com Type and use the Type knob to select Network UDP.
- Press Com Settings and use the Client/Server knob to select Client and enter the IP Settings.
- Remote IP Address: 224.0.168.168
- Remote Port: 8902
- Local IP Address - leave at default
- Local Port - leave at default
- Press Extra Options and use the Option and Value knobs to set the device parameters.
- Add Header: No Header
- Screen: 3
- Invert: Standard (default)
- Justify: Left (default)
- Rate: Burst
- Brightness: 3
- Output Format: Acuity (only needed for Ultrix Acuity)
- Press HOME > Confirm.
Acuity / Ultrix Acuity TSL 5 CUEBI Configuration:
- Select "TSL UMD V5.0 (LH tally)" as switcher.
- Set the switcher IP address to "224.0.168.168".
- Set the Index number for the preferred input.
- Note: the Acuity TSL ID is "0" based, meaning Acuity source 1 is TSL ID 0, which is index 1 in the Cuebi Setup Utility.

Carbonite Ultra / Carbonite Ultra 60 / Ultrix Carbonite TSL 3.1 Switcher Configuration:
- Make sure the default gateway is configured correctly for your network.
- This is in DashBoard under Configuration > Network Setup tab.
- This is in DashBoard under Configuration > Network Setup tab.
- The switcher must be set up for the TSL UMD protocol.
- Go in DashBoard to the Configuration > Devices tab.
- Select Add Device.
- Select an unused Slot number.
- Type: TSL UMD
- Driver: TSL 5
- Port: 8903
- IP Address: 224.0.168.168
- Transport: UDP
- FS/FC Label: Off
- Show UMD ID: On
- Center: On
- Show Bus Name: Off
- 1 Second Update: On
- Select Save to confirm your settings.
Graphite TSL 3.1 Switcher Configuration:
- Make sure the default gateway is configured correctly for your network.
- This is in DashBoard under Configuration > Network Setup tab.
- This is in DashBoard under Configuration > Network Setup tab.
- The switcher must be set up for the TSL UMD protocol.
- Go in DashBoard to the Configuration > Devices tab.
- Select Add Device.
- Select an unused Slot number.
- Type: SerialTally
- Driver: TSL-UMD_1.0
- Port: 8903
- IP Address: 224.0.168.168
- Transport: UDP
- FS/FC Label: Off
- Show UMD ID: On
- Center: On
- Show Bus Name: Off
- 1 Second Update: On
- Select Save to confirm your settings.
Carbonite / Carbonite Black TSL 3.1 Switcher Configuration:
- Make sure the default gateway is configured correctly for your network.
- This is in DashBoard under Configuration > Network Setup tab.
- The switcher must be set up for the TSL UMD protocol.
- Press MENU > SYSTEM > NEXT > NEXT > Device Config.
- Press the Add knob.
- Use the Slot knob to select an unused slot.
- Use the Type knob to select SerialTally.
- Press NEXT.
- Use the SubType knob to select TSLUMD_1.0.
- Press NEXT.
- Set the IP Address to 224.0.168.168 (use the Field knob to select the segment of the IP address and the Value knob to set the number).
- Press NEXT.
- Use the Option and Value knobs to set the options for this UMD device.
- Port: 8903
- Transport: UDP
- ShowBusName: Off
- 1SecUpdate: On
- Press the Option knob.
- Press the Confirm knob to save the settings.
All Carbonite/Graphite TSL 3.1 CUEBI Configuration:
- Select "TSL UMD V3.1" as switcher.
- Set the switcher IP address to "224.0.168.168".
- Set the Index number for the preferred input.
- Note: the Carbonite TSL ID is "1" based, meaning Carbonite source 1 is TSL ID 1, which is index 2 in the Cuebi Setup Utility.
